Intro to Frame Weaving

Cost: $100 per person
Want to build your own frame loom and learn the basics of weaving? Our Intro to Frame Weaving workshop will provide participants with instruction and materials to build and use their own frame loom. The loom itself will be 1ft x 3ft, size enough to make a substantial weaving. Participants may use yarn provided, but are also welcome to bring their own if they desire. Other can be woven into your creation, so we encourage participants to bring in anything of interest that may be conducive to weaving: sticks, ribbon, torn t-shirts, etc

Celebrate Mother’s Day with the Western North Carolina Sculpture Center! This year you can create the perfect gift or give a mom in your life the memorable experience of making a concrete stepping stone for the home or garden. In this workshop, Western North Carolina Sculpture Center staff will teach participants how to make personalize stepping stones. WNCSC will provide all the essential design materials, and participants are encouraged to bring any tiles, plates, marbles, leaves, stones, etc. to incorporate into their design and individualize their stone.
Build a Bee Hotel

Invite bees to your garden or yard with a bee hotel! Bee hotels are a beautiful way to add personality and environmental benefits to your garden.
No experience crafting bee hotels? No problem! All materials will be provided and your instructor will guide you through planning, crafting, and preparing your bee hotel for installation. WNC Sculpture Center staff will teach participants to make their own insect hideaway using bamboo and twine, and will lead a discussion on the positive impact that bee hotels can have on Western North Carolina's ecosystem.
